I have always been a fan of Kurt Vonnegut.  He wrote Slaughterhouse Five and Cat’s Cradle and many many more books.  The first book I read by Mr. Vonnegut was “God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater,” and it influenced my political and social thinking for a long time.  So what’s this got to do with home based business?

P.S. One “problem” with learning about internet marketing - and especially the psychology behind copywriting - is that every commercial on TV suddenly is not even entertaining anymore.  Seriously.  I have not seen a commercial that’s 1/10 as entertaining as a Frank Kern video, and no where near as informative as anything Russell has provided during this Challenge.  I guess that’s a good thing.  It’s sort of like when my kids thought that Britney Spears was a good singer - until I made them listen to Bruce Springsteen.  Now they know…   

Today is my second day with Simon Hodgkinson’s “Web Based Wealth,” his new system of building an internet based business.  I reviewed Module 2 - Tools and I was stunned!  he provides links and explanations of everything you need, from product creation to website creation to autoresponders and payment processors.  And, even though I have been online for a couple of years, there were many vendors here I had never heard of.  And having this module so early in the program will help down the line.  Like when I am reviewing Copywriting, for example, I have already seen the website creation software.

I have also spent some time looking at the bonuses.  I guess one perk of being a guru is that all your buddies pile on with free stuff, to promote their programs too. I have joined a few programs that will help supplement what I learn in “Web Based Wealth” by providing traffic support, for example.  So that is cool.

And I spent some time with the mind maps.  If you don’t know what a “mind map” is: it’s a process where you actually draw your thoughts.  Basically, you put your main idea in the center of the paper in a circle.  Then you draw circles around the main idea with related ideas and connect the ideas to each other.  It is an incredibly flexible and powerful tool.  Not only does Simon give you his mind maps of each module - he provides free mindmapping software AND the source files for his mindmaps, so you can personalize them!

Next is Module 3 - Business Models.  This is an area I really want to focus on.  And tomorrow I am going to look at one of the bonus programs that gets you into various niches, which is another part of internet business that I do need help on.  So “Web Based Wealth” really is proving to be a complete program.  And - here is what you should appreciate - there is NOT an “upsell” or “coaching program” because this program is all you need.

I got my copy of “Web Based Wealth” from Simon Hodgkinson yesterday, and I was like a kid at Christmas! It’s really cool.  But I don’t want to waste time gushing over the mind maps and action guides (which really help learners like me - you know, people who make lists of the lists they are going to make!). I want to tell you about my first day with this system.

Oh - I should point out that this system applies to anything you are selling on the Internet, not just the “make money on the internet” market.  I don’t sell to that market.  I like selling and working with other markets - regular people - health and fitnes, religion, divorced parents.

I turned to the Study Guide and took the Self Assessment test.  Now, just so you know, I constantly monitor what I am doing.  My day job is trial attorney, so if I’m not checking my performance, my clients or the opposing counsel is! So I have been reviewing and rewriting my own personal Internet Marketing plan over and over again.  Especially when a guru does a launch.  I add the “freebies” to my Copywriting folder, my Traffic folder, my Product Development folder, etc.  I thought I had build up a fair amount of knowledge, but I knew there were areas I was lacking.  And I wasn’t making a gazillion a year, so obviously my knowledge wasn’t translating into money.

My Self Assessment test score was close to - but still below - the cutoff for Level 2. Which means I am Level 1 - beginner.  Which is true and accurate.  And the Study Guide then lays out the order in which to study and follow the modules for me.  THIS is really terrific!  It’s a “take you by the hand” approach, but it’s down the path YOU need to follow.

So I started by studying Module 1 - Mindset.  Again, a couple of revelations, especially in getting an entrepreneurial mindset (as opposed to “another job” mindset). And the Action Guide really helped make what I learned concrete and real.

Today, I am working on Module 2 - Marketing Tools.  Again, something I knwo about and have used.  But what I see in Module 2 with even a brief look (I am not looking at the Modules until I am actually going to study them - a discipline technique I learned from Module 1) will help me, especially by tieing the tools all together.

Okay, this is a little long post.  But “Web Based Wealth” really has so much to offer, at such a terrific price, that I want to explain as much as possible.  Check it out.  It might be the key - the plan - the blueprint - the scaffolding that your business needs to grow.  I know it is for mine!

Hi everybody. I have posted on this blog that it is my belief that you can set up an internet based business,  using only free information and stuff that gurus give away during their launches. And you can.  It just takes FOREVER! Mainly because the free stuff is NOT a complete package. It would be like trying to get a Master’s Degree in computer science by writing programs and figuring out the mechanics.
